Just in time for the release of the latest Doctor Who Target Novels from BBC Books, we're joined by legendary Who writers Rona Munro and James Moran!
Rona's name is familiar to many fans as the writer of the final Classic episode broadcast - Survival. She returned to the show in the Moffat years to write Eaters of Light for the Twelfth Doctor and Bill. This story is the one targeted for novelisation... get it?
James was writing for Torchwood season two when he achieved his dream to write for Doctor Who, and we learn exactly how that came about. The Fires of Pompeii immediately established itself as a firm fan favourite and was vital in Donna Noble's development into the beloved character she became. This story was also targeted... can we use this joke again? No? Ok.
We talk to both writers about their love of Doctor Who, their career beginnings, theatre writing with Rona and short films and features with James. We discuss their scripts in depth, where the ideas came from, what it was like collaborating with the showrunners and we ask what's next for them and what they'd like to do in the Whoniverse in the future...
...plus we are very lucky to be serenaded by James' young daughter during our chat too!
